The intense observation required to complete a drawing is not dissimilar to a mother's gaze over her child's body as she notes the bumps and scrapes, the thickness of their thighs and the dirt under their nails, always looking for what needs her time and attention. The “Tender” series is a love letter to the joyful freedom a child may experience in their own body under the tender gaze of their mother.
